We are excited to announce some great news
DigitalOcean has decided to empower students and donate to TSI.
What this does for TSI
This donation helps us create new tools for students in our tech program. Since 2019 we have been on a mission to change how students learn technology. DigitalOcean is further supporting that mission.
When COVID began, DigitalOcean gave TSI $1,000 in platform credits — a game changer that let us build without limits. We created droplet after droplet to test software until we were satisfied, then moved to storage-optimized servers. We call that server our "High Powered TSI Apps Machine" — known for staying online and being always available. We migrated to DigitalOcean because of strong nonprofit support, developer tools, reliability, secure hosting, and ease of use.
New student software
Our students expect instantaneous collaboration and high uptime. Our library of student-facing applications is now 60+ platforms and growing.
We continuously update student software: faster performance, cross-compatibility, improved UI/UX, and a better overall experience. We want more tools that empower creativity and make education memorable.
Highlights include:
- Student Mobile App Builder
- Website Builder (Version 6)
- Social Network (Version 3)
- Student eCommerce Platform
- Student Blog Platform
- Augmented Reality Builder
Social tools bring students from different schools together to share thoughts on technology and art. Student expression supports growth and communication skills.
The Web Builder is a vital tool that relies on DigitalOcean infrastructure — it lets students prototype ideas for businesses they want to create.
Our drag-and-drop App Builder helps students create mobile apps smoothly. The AR Builder is a web app to customize AR experiences using computer vision. The Student eCommerce platform helps students build online stores. The Student Blog Platform is a place to write, share experiences, or market products while strengthening writing skills.
Our future
More is ahead. The donation through Hollie's Hub for Good helps us keep implementing new technology and curriculum. The industry moves fast — students deserve to learn fields and devices that will appear in future workplaces. The donation also helps us increase infrastructure capacity to serve students and teachers.
Upcoming work includes:
- Drone curriculum with professional hardware from DJI — students learn to pilot, record video, 3D scan environments, and program drones for real-world solutions.
- Store and PD: New lessons, subscriptions, and professional development so schools worldwide can purchase and teach the program with or without TSI instructors on site.
- IoT curriculum for elementary programs — smart connected devices with Raspberry Pi and certified instructors.
- Android and iOS build support for the Student Mobile App Builder — publish to Play Store and App Store and build a real portfolio.
- Microsoft HoloLens 2 and Perception Neuron 3 — students learn to develop, market, and build on advanced platforms.
- Motion capture curriculum (K–12) and Parent Academy — powered by a portable motion capture studio, teaching digital filmmaking workflows used by leading studios.
Thank you to DigitalOcean and Hollie's Hub for Good for supporting public education and TSI's mission.
